Events
The Urban Futures Research Group regularly organises events with a global reach, contributing to the dynamism of urban studies as a field for innovative scholarly work by bringing together international, thought-provoking fellows.
Events range from local workshops organised by Research Affiliates in Vienna, to Brown Bag Lunches with incoming scholars and our online book presentation series, 'Hot Off the Press', as well as international guest talks at the University of Vienna.

RC21 Conference 2026
The RC21 Conference, which took place from 20 to 22 July 2026, was hosted by the University of Vienna and co-organised by members of the Research Group.
Under the theme “Inequalities and the City: Old Issues, New Challenges”, it brought together more than 1,100 urban scholars from around the world.

Hot off the Press
In our 'Hot off the Press' series, urban studies scholars present their recent publications in live online webinars. After the presentation and discussant comments, participants are invited for a Q&A session.
